Burundi Kayanza Nkuba Hill

In Burundi's northern Kayanza province, Nkuba Hill produces the country's most distinctive natural coffees. Coffee cherry is sourced from farmers on its namesake hill — "Nkuba" means lightning, a nod to the belief that the soil was blessed by a strike long ago — each lot is sorted daily, dried on raised beds, and hand-rotated to lock in sweetness. The result: a thick, fudgy cup with cognac-like richness and lingering notes of berry and candied cherry.
